Chickens Call, maintenant ou jamais – 10″

Apparently this french trio has been around for nine years but this is only their second vinyl effort. They must have been saving up because i’d qualify this ep as “good shit”, and now i’m thinking, “What took’em so long?” At times this reminds me of ASTA KASK, even though i’m sure that’s just the raspy, whoa-type dual vocals and fast, melodic guitar style that are pulling that reference. The songs have obviously been written with some thought to the arrangements and contain lots of dynamic breaks, tempo changes, guitar texture, and catchy solos. A couple tracks contain bits of acoustic guitar overdubs, which might turn some folks off. All in all this was definitely a cool surprise.” (CI)
